style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Harpo Foundation
Mission The foundation only
gives grants to non-profit institutions that support artists who are under
recognized by the field. This applies to all artists whether emerging or
further along in their careers. We view the definitions of art and artist to
be open-ended and expansive.

Proposals
Proposals to the
foundation can take the form of installations, public interventions,
residencies and exhibitions where the artist is commissioned to create new
work. All proposals must include a project description, examples of the
artist's work, and a resume. It must also contain a budget identifying the
artist's honorarium, project costs, and total budget. All materials must be
submitted on a single disk in digital format, mailed to the foundation's
address, or via e-mail to proposals@harpofoundation.org. Texts
must be placed in Microsoft word and images in PowerPoint or PDF format.
Proposals must also be submitted in hard copy. The foundation's grants must
only be used for artist's honorarium and direct cost of the project. Grants
will usually not exceed 10,000 USD.

The deadline will be April 1,
2009. Grantees will be notified by November 1, 2009.

Criteria
Projects and work that advance and cross the
boundaries of media and artistic disciplines will be given first
consideration. Proposals will be judged on the basis of the quality of the
artist's work and the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry.

Process
Our advisors will review the proposals and make
recommendations to the board that will be responsible for the final
decision.

Grants recipients for 2008

ArtPace
445 North
