Semi-finalists will be determined by votes on Facebook and by a panel of

The semi-finalists will compete in live elimination battles to be broadcast

The *RE/MIXED MEDIA FESTIVAL* explores the art of remix. Digital technology
has empowered artists and consumers alike to access media creation tools
that were previously limited to professionals. The result is an explosion
of creativity—of remix, user-generated content, and art that pushes the
limits of copyright and tinkers with the premise of intellectual
property. Founded
in 2010, the *RE/MIXED MEDIA FESTIVAL* aims to bring public awareness and
generate conversation around the vibrant art and practice of remix. The
first festival in 2010 was a huge success where festival goers enjoyed
appearances by Moby, Steinski, Ricky Powell, Sweatshoppe, Deanna Zandt,
Jesper Juul, and over 50 other artists, performers, musicians and DJs. In
2011, over one thousand attendees packed into One Arm Red and the
Underwater Lounge in DUMBO to enjoy more live performance, music, film and
panel discussions on critical issues related to remix, sampling and
creative appropriation.

This year’s location, the* **Brooklyn Lyceum,*
<http://brooklynlyceum.com/>is a multi-use space of historical
architecture and raw Brooklyn beauty.
Originally opened in 1910 as an indoor bathing facility, the Lyceum is an
arts venue and cultural center on the edge of Gowanus and Park Slope that
is host to a range of theatre, music, dance, markets and community
activities.
*ABOUT BBOX RADIO*
Much more than a radio station, BBOX combines a visible broadcast studio
with a cultural venue and community center. Locally-sourced content is
aired live, online and on-site, from Brooklyn. Interviews, call-in shows,
radio journalism, DJs and live music performances offer BBOX listeners the
best of what's happening in and around our borough. The rich mix that is
Brooklyn — the raucous and raw to the cultured and classic — makes BBOX an
experience like no other.
BBOX’s aim is to support the exchange of ideas, art and music by providing
a local community platform & meeting place. BBOX fulfills its mission
through an evolving collaboration with its neighbors — artists, educators,
entrepreneurs, civic advocates and everyone in between — to present a range
of engaging radio programs, concerts, workshops, exhibits and talks.
