Hi all,

I only recently joined this list.

I see that some old friends are also on this list.

Regarding the question about secondlife.

Yes it still has not too great graphics - it is no longer as exciting
in terms of being a virtual economy as it was in 2007 and so on - in
other words if you are looking for "new" - SL is not it.

But there are several groups that hang out there for different
reasons. I see some academic groups, some classes being held there,
and as people on this list have already noted - artists and activists
and nonprofits are there as well.

The initial buzzzz seems to have died down.

I am there for research - not to research "secondlife" per se - but to
understand digital subjectivity through that context - pretty much in
the same way I stayed on in the text based MOOs long after there was
no one there (I still "am" on pmcmoo although all other moos I was on
- mediamoo, lingua etc have vanished].

In short I am still researching there and sometimes I still subject my
grad students and undergrad classes to exploring there.
