Dear Friends,
The very happiest of New Years to you!
2023 marked the fiftieth year of the EI concert series.
For many years we maintained a very low entrance fee to the concerts ($4.99), never turning anyone away for lack of funds because we want as many people as possible to come to the concerts. And we pay an actual fee to the artists and not just door money.
For this 50th year we wanted to be back at 224 Centre Street for our events but health issues and lack of resources to get everything going again in due time got in the way.
But we are already working on planning our return for 2024 to the original Experimental Intermedia space. To do this successfully, however, we need all the financial help we can get to be able to hire a solid team to make this happen in style after 4 years hiatus brought about by Covid.
So, if you can spare a little change...
You can do this now if you still want to for the 2023 year, or just get an early start for your 2024 donations if you prefer...
Experimental Intermedia was founded by Elaine Summers in 1968. Our first concerts at 224 Centre Street were in December 1973.

Our 2023 year:
This past year Experimental Intermedia Foundation was able to present artists in a few different contexts, ushering new and exciting works into the world.
Our March 2023 Series, presented seven in-person evenings of concerts or screenings held at three different New York City locations: Shift, WhiteBox and Emily Harvey Foundation. Concerts were by Luca Forcucci, Elico Suzuki, and Joseph Sledgianowski, and screenings by Leslie Thornton, Jeanne Liotta, Bradley Eros, as well as the 19th annual Screen Compositions event curated by Katherine Liberovskaya.
The recently completed December 2023 Series had six performances again presented at three New York City venues: Harvestworks, WhiteBox and Fridman Gallery. These featured Simon Whetham, Julian Knowles, Claudio F Baroni, Lois V Vierk, David First and Suzana Uzcal.
All events were in-person and simultaneously live-streamed from our website and from Wave Farm's web radio. Video recordings of all the events and interviews produced in 2023 by EIF remain on our website and can be viewed by anyone near or far at any time.
Experimental Intermedia Foundation also co-produced a special 24-hour edition of Phill Niblock's annual winter Solstice concert at Roulette on December 21st and 22nd.
As well, EIF has continued work on its important archive of audio and video recordings since the 1970s.
In addition, Experimental Intermedia's label XI Records remains active, having released in 2023 a 2-CD set by Merche Blasco and Lucie Vitkova. We have also been working on three new releases by Matt Rogalsky, David First and Julian Knowles, all scheduled to be out in 2024.
If you were inspired, challenged or moved by Experimental Intermedia Foundation's programming this last year, or over the past 50 odd years, we hope you will consider supporting us by donating to our year-end campaign. Your fully tax-deductible donation of any amount to this fundraising effort can provide important unrestricted support to our general operations, helping with everything that we do for you, for artists, for the broader public.
Donations can be made through the "Donate" button on the landing page of our website https://experimentalintermedia.org (PayPal) or by sending a check by mail.
In gratitude,
Experimental Intermedia Foundation
