This is an exchange program, and in turn, Residency Unlimited will also host in 2023 a six month residency for a Swiss artist (yet to be selected) in New York. *CONDITIONS* >From *February 3 until July 30, 2023*, Atelier Mondial will provide to the selected artist the following: ▪ Roundtrip flight Switzerland New York ▪ 860 square foot live-in-studio ▪ An allowance of $1,200 per month while in Switzerland to cover day to day living costs. The building is closely situated next to Schaulager, the Helsinki building – by architects Herzog & de Meuron – and it faces the new Academy of Art and Design Basel (HGK FHNW), along with a number of new ‘off’ or alternative spaces and galleries, which are all part of the growing Campus of the Arts. It has a rich cultural heritage (with historical personalities such as Erasmus, Holbein, Böcklin, Burckhardt, Nietzsche, etc.), ongoing traditions and a vital and diverse range of cultural activities in art, theater, music, dance, film. Many museums (Kunstmuseum Basel /Museum of Contemporary Art, Schaulager, Kunsthalle Basel, Fondation Beyeler, Museum der Kulturen, Tinguely Museum, Antikenmuseum Basel and Sammlung Ludwig, etc.), and contemporary buildings by internationally recognized architects.
