FW: Harpo Foundation: Call for Proposals h,
(so i am going to subvert this to the thingist machine...right?)
i saw this recommendation that you made before and wolf and i absolutely put it on the list...but i have to admit that i need help understanding what approach to take.
the assumptions that i make are that foundations outside of new york (international) are even more network intimate, but when i look at their recipients and associations the picture anyway is less so...and yet disparate (not easy to understand the thread of what they might fund.)
h, do you have an idea about who they fund?
i mean certainly let's do it ( we will have the text--one out of the four that i have to immediately present to nysca ) so...
i don't know let's (the two of us) meet soon to chat about this and most importantly the jerome and others for your screening program.
although i am beginning to feel resentful about trips to the LES for every little bit...with your lovely knee pins and needles, i am happy to dash into your closet haunt to do some serious thingist business.
let me know.
best..arfus

Call for Proposals Deadline: April 1, 2009
Harpo Foundation 3851 Kumquat Avenue, Coconut Grove, FL 33133

Harpo Foundation Mission The foundation only gives grants to non-profit institutions that support artists who are under recognized by the field. This applies to all artists whether emerging or further along in their careers. We view the definitions of art and artist to be open-ended and expansive.
Proposals Proposals to the foundation can take the form of installations, public interventions, residencies and exhibitions where the artist is commissioned to create new work. All proposals must include a project description, examples of the artist's work, and a resume. It must also contain a budget identifying the artist's honorarium, project costs, and total budget. All materials must be submitted on a single disk in digital format, mailed to the foundation's address, or via e-mail to proposals@harpofoundation.org. Texts must be placed in Microsoft word and images in PowerPoint or PDF format. Proposals must also be submitted in hard copy. The foundation's grants must only be used for artist's honorarium and direct cost of the project. Grants will usually not exceed 10,000 USD.
The deadline will be April 1, 2009. Grantees will be notified by November 1, 2009.
Criteria Projects and work that advance and cross the boundaries of media and artistic disciplines will be given first consideration. Proposals will be judged on the basis of the quality of the artist's work and the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry.
Process Our advisors will review the proposals and make recommendations to the board that will be responsible for the final decision.
